The Castle of the Bishops of Warmia is one of the most valuable monuments of Gothic architecture in Poland. Since 2018, it has enjoyed the title of Monument of History. It is the best-preserved medieval castle in Poland, called the Wawel of the North. This is the place where Nicolaus Copernicus, Jan Dantyszek, Stanisław Hozjusz, Ignacy Krasicki, among others, lived and created. It offers several unique exhibitions - from archaeology, old weapons, artistic crafts, Gothic art, religious painting, to Polish contemporary painting. The latter exhibition is especially worth seeing - with works by artists such as Józef Mehoffer, Jacek Malczewski, Julian Fałat and Zdzisław Beksiński, it is one of the most valuable collections of Polish painting from the beginning of the 20th century to the early 1960s.
